Godzilla! TCM launches Drive-In Thursdays

Turner Classic Movie channel kicks off its summer Drive-In Thursday movie series with the most famous of the monsters from the 1950s and ’60s, Godzilla! Yes, tonight we begin with Godzilla, King of the Monsters, the original, first in the Big Guy?s long franchise. While the true original from 1954, TCM will show the Japanese-American version from 1955 tonight, which includes additional footage featuring American actor, Raymond Burr. Yes, Godzilla helped boost Burr’s career, leading to his long run in the hit TV series, Perry Mason. All through the month of June, TCM will air its Drive-In movie double features. Tonight we get Godzilla, followed by Rodan. Later this evening, TCM will also show Ghidorah: The Three-Headed Monster, as well as Godzilla vs Monster Zero. Other features in June will include such classics as The Blob, starring a young Steve McQueen, Attack of the 50 Foot Woman starring Allison Hayes, and even Queen of Outer Space starring Zsa Zsa Gabor. Darling, Manhattan is the place to be! Call them campy, call them trashy, call these movies whatever you want, but watch them anyway, because they are tons of fun!
